What happens in a Get
Fit class?
You perform a series of fun movements in a spacious studio around a
circuit, spending 30 seconds at each of the 15 stations. At the
different stations you work with hand weights, stability balls,
resistance bands, tubing and other functional tools. One or more
certified personal trainers guide you through the movements, keep
time, and tell you when to move on to the next station. You complete
the circuit twice, which takes only 30 minutes. We limit our class
size to 15 participants, to give you the individual attention you
need.
Is Get Fit! a gym?
No. It’s a studio. There are no machines, no equipment, not even a
mirror.
How can your classes benefit me?
Our classes build strength, flexibility, stamina and balance. You’ll
look better, feel better, and function better in your everyday life.
Can I lose weight?
Absolutely. You can lose weight, lose inches, improve your muscle
tone and feel terrific.
What should I wear?
Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. Shorts or pants with an
elastic waistband and a T-shirt or stretchy top are best. If you
wear shorts, you might feel comfortable layering bike shorts or
tights underneath.
What do I need to bring?
Yourself, and a smile. Towels and water are provided.

I’m out of shape. Is this class appropriate for me?
Definitely. People who take this class range from trained athletes
to overweight people to those with physical disabilities. As with
any fitness activity, you will start slowly and advance as you build
strength. You work at your own level, always supervised by our
certified personal trainers. Because each station is individual, the
class is appropriate for all fitness levels at all times.
I’m an advanced athlete. Will this be rigorous enough for me?
Yes. These exercises are highly individual, and our personal
trainers will tailor them to your level of fitness. In fact, people
who play other sports call this workout their “secret weapon” for
tennis, golf, running, spinning, etc. Even the most advanced
athletes get an excellent workout and great results.
What is functional training?
Many workout regimens focus on strengthening muscles. But functional
training strengthens movements, rather than muscles. What does that
mean? The movements in our classes replicate those you make every
day, but they use resistance, your own body weight, and balance
tools. As a result, functional training improves your tone, balance,
strength and flexibility in practical ways, meaning that you’re
better able to perform everyday moves like lifting groceries,
reaching for something on a high shelf, climbing stairs, carrying a
baby, swinging a golf club or tennis racquet, skiing, cycling, etc.
Is functional training different from core training?
Functional fitness goes beyond core training. It not only
strengthens the core, but the rest of the body, too. Using
resistance, balance and your own body weight, the circuit is
designed to build the strength, flexibility, stamina and balance you
need for everyday living. With
Functional Training you get your cardio, strength, and flexibility
all in only 30 minutes!”
